How Playing Pokemon Firered helped me through my worst depression

Pokemon isn’t like any RPG. Pokemon isn’t a game where you simply proceed through each cut scene waiting for the next party member to join. In Pokemon you make the choice. It is ultimately up to the player on what they want their party to be. This customization is what allows the replay-ability of this game series to flourish. The amount of team combinations in Pokemon is VAST. With Gen 1 alone there are 5,436 team combinations ALONE. Don’t forget this game is a remake of Generation 1, so in reality the total Pokemon count is 384 meaning there are 13,824 possible team combinations assuming you have a copy of Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald. Quantity is not more important than quality by any means but in gaming it’s not a bad thing (unless your referring to the heaping pile of bad Sonic games.

Every single day I woke up and stared into my Game Boy Advance I found myself more and more happy. Having something to do helped me to find a bit of happiness in the darkest tunnel. Thankfully in that tunnel I had a GBA wormlight! My final team ended up being Blastoise, Raichu, Dragonite, Arcanine, Butterfree, and someone else I can’t remember who I ended up shafting to the side when I master ball’d Mewtwo. The lesson to be learned here is that hobbies and little things you can enjoy will help us through the darkest times. Stay strong fighters. Now then, I must get back to playing Pokemon Sword on my Nintendo Switch.
